Amazon :(

Amazon’s message to me:

“Our Content Team thoroughly reviewed your content and confirmed that your edition of “Treasure Island” is not distinct enough to be separated from the other public domain editions of “Treasure Island” on Amazon. For this reason, we will uphold their decision to keep them linked.

Additionally, we are unable to provide additional information regarding what classifies a title as being distinct enough to not be a public domain title.”

And with that Amazon effectively killed my book. They threw it into the pile of over 900 other editions of Treasure Island and made it impossible to find unless you search the ISBN. Amazon makes you add original content to a public domain book to publish it, then they throw it into an unsearchable pile of editions that DON’T have original content added. If you ask what their criteria to determine what is “distinct enough” they either completely ignore you or say they can’t tell you. Amazon’s system for dealing with public domain books is complete garbage!
